Abstract(in English) | To meet the emerging demand for ubiquitous information services, the networking technologies applicable to challenged networks in which link states (e.g., packet loss, delay, and connectivity) heavily vary are required. In particular, the spatial and temporal dynamic resource allocation/selection is essential. Our work focuses on how to assign each incoming traffic flow to a path among multiple wireless access paths connected to the Internet, some are broadband but with intermittent connectivity and some are stable but narrowband. In our previous work, we investigated a path selection scheme which allows an incoming flow to wait for the recovery of a currently disconnected path within a pre-defined fixed waiting time. The scheme has a potential but its performance limitation results from the fact that the waiting time could not be changed depending on the situation of the paths and the flows. In this study, therefore, we propose a new scheme that selects a path based on some metric which could be dynamically changed depending on the paths and flows conditions. This scheme can implicitly wait for the resumption of a disconnected path. We investigate what kind of information on the paths and flows is essential to define a good metric for the best path selection reducing flow transmission delay time. |
