Abstract(in English) | In this report, we design and propose the thread virtualization environment for parallel and distributed processing environment uses a cluster with multi-core, and implemented and evaluated it. Generally, we use inter-node communication libraries such as MPI for parallel distributed processing in a cluster. However, for a cluster with multi-core, in addition between nodes, it is needed for us to program a multi-thread programming between cores. So, we must learn two types of parallel programming that have different nature. Therefore, in this report, we propose the thread virtualization environment that show us multiple cores in multiple nodes connected to a network as if they are in one node, so we can do multi-thread programming using many processing cores. If we use this environment, we need only the knowledge of multi-thread programming techniques to effectively utilize the computing resources in multiple nodes. The performance evaluation results of this environment, it is confirmed that an increasing the number of core N times, an execution speed is almost N times faster in the Monte Carlo method that is coarse-grained and execute a few data transfers. And, it is confirmed that, compared to 6 cores, using 30 cores is 0.029 times as much as execution speed in the calculating the Levenshtein distance that is fine-grained and execute data transfers frequently. So the next challenge is to implement the cache mechanism for an improvement of a communication speed between nodes. |
