Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Analysis of the left ventricular wall motion is important for estimating the mechanical characteristics of the heart. MR Phase-contrast imaging enables us to obtain the three-dimensional velocity data for each pixel. We analyzed the strain in short-axis plane of the left ventricle by using the MR-PC images. In this study, we introduce the new approach based on geometrically-constrained deformation for strain analysis in medical images. We found that the deformation tensor obtained by our method directly leads to mechanical strain tensor of the heart. This approach has low computational load and robust against finite deformation. Our method could provide a clear insight for the complex wall motion of the heart.
