Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigated the transmission characteristics of the converted signal with frequency chirping after wavelength conversion in a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA) by means of cross gain modulation(XGM) and nonlinear polarization rotation switch. These converters have different frequency chirp properties. To measure chirp properties, a practical method using an optical tunable bandpass filter was used. Based on these measurements, we evaluate the performances of the wavelength converter in terms of high chromatic dispersion tolerance.
