Business Process Analysis Method with Reference Model

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a business process analysis method for business process improvement using process reference model. Firstly, in the proposed method which consists of five steps, we consider gap between current business process model and reference process model. Next, we describe twelve gap patterns which may be helpful to business process analysts for identifying business process problems and planning improvement candidates. The twelve gap patterns are made by combining three business process elements (process, information and actor) with four gap types (composite, separate, redundant, and defective). Then we procedurally plan, business process improvement candidates based on a guideline, which focuses on filling in those gaps between current business process model and reference process model. Finally, we apply the proposed method to business processes related to production management in a manufacturing company and assess it.
