Efficient Key Pre-distribution Protocol for Multi-Phase Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract(in English) Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a network composed of a lot of wireless sensors with a little calculation resource. The network connectivity decreases with the time passage because WSN depends on the battery for the power supply of the sensor. Then, the scheme to maintain the connectivity between sensors by adding sensor nodes regularly in the network is considered. This is called a multi-phase wireless sensor network. Eschenauer et al. proposed a random key pre-distribution scheme for efficient sensor network connectivity. Further, Castelluccia et al. improved this scheme to propose the multi-phase scheme (RoK scheme) which introduces rekeying process based on hush function. On the other hand, Blund et al. proposed the polynomial based key pre-distribution scheme, in which the key was not directly stored in each node. In this paper, we improved RoK scheme to propose a polynomial based multi-phase key pre-distribution scheme. In our scheme, even if an adversary captures t nodes before the t-degree polynomials are refreshed, our key pre-distribution scheme is secure, i.e., the shared key is not disclosed.
