Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Privacy preserving RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) authentication has been an active research area in recent years. Both forward security and backward security are required to maintain the privacy of a tag i.e., exposure of a tag's secret key should not reveal the past or future secret keys of the tag. However, there has not been much research on backward security. We propose a key insulated mutual authentication protocol for RFID which minimizes the damage caused by the secret key exposure. A tag computes the session secret using the partial secret sent by the server. The server uses this session key to authenticate the tag. The tag's secret key is updated separately in each session. Even if the tag's secret key is exposed during an authentication session, the backward and forward security of the tag are preserved under our assumptions. Moreover, our scheme is efficient compared to the previous works from the viewpoint of computational requirements.
