Abstract(in English) There are many methods to estimate sound source direction based on the binaural input signals in horizontal coordinate where the direction is estimated as an azimuth and an elevation angles. In this coordinates, the meaning of difference in azimuth angles depends an elevation and an azimuth is meaningless when the elevation is 90 degree. An estimation method of direction of sound source which based on the binaural input on sagittal coordinate using artificial neural network (ANN) was proposed, however estimation accuracy was not sufficient. In this paper, classification of quadrant of sound source direction is proposed in order to improve estimation accuracy. This method can reduce the necessary number of learning for ANN, so that we can expect the improve of accuracy.
