Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, a new relaying scheme based on polarization diversity (PD) is studied. In conventional relaying channels, relaying must be performed on a separate channel in order to achieve spatial diversity; i.e. data transmission takes usually place in different time steps, or different frequencies which costs a part of the capacity. In the proposed scheme, the channels from the source terminal and the relay terminal are separated with different polarizations and the destination terminal is equipped with the dual polarized antenna. Numerical results through computer simulation show that the proposed scheme achieves spatial diversity in relay networks while not requiring any additional resources such as time or frequency. Additional analysis are carried out in order to observe the joint effect of cross polarization discrimination (XPD) and the correlation between the vertical and the horizontal antennas at the destination terminal.
