System Design of 1x16xN Optical Access PON for Cost Reduction

Abstract(in English) We calculated the optical loss and the cost of 1x16xN optical access network which is able to be constructed. The calculation results show that, for example, 1x16x8 branch is able to be constructed up to total distance about 2km. It shows feasibility of secondary branch. To evaluate this network system, we calculated the amount of the cost reduction and the transmission capacity per customer for 1x16xN branch. The calculation results show that the cost reduction of several ten billion yen by the secondary branch. In addition, we confirmed the enough transmission capacity for the customer.
