Configuration of a Patch Antenna with Built-in PIM Source

Abstract(in English) The authors discuss an antenna to assess the measurement environments of antenna-intermodulation in this paper. The proposed antenna is a patch antenna with the built-in intermodulation source, and its characteristics are investigated by experiment in terms of the 3rd, 5th and 7th order intermodulation. The intermodulation level can be controlled by the mounting angle of the parasitic element because a diode is mounted into the parasitic element. The maximum level of the intermodulation is determined by the diode while the minimum level is done by the self-intermodulation of the patch antenna. The maximum intermodulation level of -52dBm with approximate 3dB-increment is obtained for the 3rd order intermodulation when the excitation power is ranging from 15dBm to 31dBm. It is also confirmed that the diode does not affect on the input and radiation characteristics of the antenna.
