Equalization, Interference Cancellation, and MIMO Transmission Technologies in Radio Communications

Abstract(in English) In public mobile communication systems the signal transmission technology of spectral efficient utilization has been developed, and the technology of semiconductor circuit integration also has played an important role in order to implement smart portable telephone sets and economical systems. The first part of this report reviews trends and technical subjects of those technologies. The trend of the mobile radio systems development shows an increase of bit-rate and channel capacity. The relationship between the bit-rates and the radio frequencies of previously developed systems is shown. From the trends of the Si-CMOS process, future of RF-CMOS and high speed signal processing is discussed. Next, recent signal processing advancement in mobile communication systems is discussed. Interferences are classified, and a classification of signal processing in equalization, interference cancellation, and MIMO transmission is tabulated. Topics of those processing techniques are briefly reviewed. In the adaptive channel estimation, several degradation factors and performance enhancement by MAP recently investigated are reviewed. Applications of factor graph to the transmission model, and the message-passing algorithm are reviewed.
