Abstract(in English) In Long-Term Evolution (LTE) based on Release 8 specification (Rel. 8 LTE) and LTE-Advanced studied for Rel. 10 and beyond, multi-antenna techniques are essential to achieve the high-level system performance requirements including peak data rate, peak frequency efficiency, capacity, and cell-edge user throughput etc. This paper presents the overview multi-antenna techniques, which were specified for Rel. 8 LTE in the 3^ Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). We also address multi-antenna techniques for LTE-Advanced with more antennas than Rel. 8 LTE to satisfy the higher requirements while maintaining backward compatibility with the Rel. 8 LTE radio interface.
