Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) MIMO transmission using relay station is effective when enlarging service area and improving frequency utilization. The authors have clarified the effectiveness of MIMO transmission using relay station by using the measured channel state information among the base, relay and mobile stations in an actual outdoor environment. However, the channel capacity between the base and relay stations is not high due to high spatial correlation, because only vertical polarization as the antenna element is used. In this paper, we clarify the effectiveness using orthogonal polarization which is used to reduce the spatial correlation. We show that the orthogonal polarization is effective for multi-user transmission compared to the vertical polarization.
