Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In data centers, the cost of managing their network is increasing. Because data center operators have to use different Network Management Systems (NMSs) for existing network elements and virtual network elements created by server virtualization. This paper presents a network management model to manage both network elements in an integrated fashion. The model defines 4 layers from physical layer to logical ethernet layer. The NMS based on the model can create new network configurations for both network elements from operator's operations in logical ethernet layer. We developed a prototype NMS based on the model and conducted experiments. The experiments showed that the prototype reduces operators' mistakes when they create a VLAN configuration. The result implies that the model is effective to reduce the cost of managing data center networks.
