Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, as the amount of traffic through network grows, the necessity of sampling has been increasing for analyzing the traffic data rapidly. There are two main sampling methods; one is packet sampling and the other is flow sampling. For estimating flow size distribution from sampled data, each sampling method has advantage and disadvantage. Flow sampling is superior in estimating the flow characteristics of small size and packet sampling enables extracting large flows. Therefore, in this paper, we propose hybrid sampling method which employs both flow sampling and packet sampling in parallel to improve estimation accuracy. Through the experiment with commercial traffic data, we verify our proposed method.
