WLAN Packet Control Scheme for High Quality Voice Communications

Abstract(in English) When a wireless LAN has a heavy traffic load, the voice communication quality strikingly deteriorates due to the packet delay, the packet loss and so forth, compared to wired LAN environments. In this work, we propose a method which estimates the bandwidth utilization in the wireless LAN using the one-way trip time values with RTP packets, and which controls the packet-sending conditions adapted to the estimated bandwidth. As a means to obtain the one-way trip time values, the time synchronization mechanism between two communication terminals will be clarified. In addition, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme will also be shown through the practical experiments for the evaluations.
