Abstract(in English) | Macrobending loss that occurs at a junction point of optical cables might become harmful to system operation since the loss increases in the long wavelength region for a small bending radius. Hence, it is very important to identify the location of the occurrence point of fiber macrobending. Conventionally, optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) method with a single wavelength has been used to identify a high loss position. However, the conventional OTDR method is not necessarily sufficient to distinguish between a high splice loss point and a macrobending point. In this paper, we propose a novel identification method of a fiber macrobending point based on the OTDR measurement at two wavelengths, and report the experimental results to verify the methods. |
