Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Currently, a voice recognition system attracts attention as a new input method to replace keyboards. Since a voice input system requires no effort and also no special practice, while keyboards do. However, a voice as an acoustic signal degrades under the existence of environmental noise, thus a voice recognition system cannot often recognize a dialogue. To realize robust voice recognition, we propose a vowel recognition method using Active Appearance Model. As an experimental result, our system demonstrates the recognition rate of 87.3% to the five vowels and the syllabic nasal.
