Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Scattering events are commonly observed in daily life scenes, for example, from skylight, clouds and occeans, to foods, drinks and human skins. Visual simulation of light scattering is, therefore, one of the most important technical elements in photo-realistic rendering. Light scattering is dominated by the partial differential equation called the volume rendering equation. This paper reviews the light scattering theories and techniques to solve the volume rendering equation, and overviews recent research of their CG applications.
