| 抄録(和) | 物体の表面を見ているとき,人間はその色や明るさだけでなく,光沢や透明感などを容易に見分けることができる.表面の画像が複雑な光学プロセスの結果であることを考えると,この質感知覚の能力はきわめて高度な脳の情報処理に基づくように思われる.しかし,われわれは最近,人間の視覚系が二次元画像のなかの単純な特徴を利用して質感を推定していることを示す一連の根拠を得つつある.本講演では,表面の光沢や透明度の知覚を決定づける画像の手がかり特徴を明らかにした心理物理学的研究とともに,簡単な画像処理でそうした特徴を操作して,表面の見かけの質感を劇的に変化させる技術を紹介する. |
| 抄録(英) | Human can effortlessly perceive material property of surfaces such as glossiness and translucency. Given the fact that the image of a surface is resulting from complex interplay among the surface reflectance, 3D geometry, and illumination, visual estimation of the surface property may appear to involve highly complex neural computation in the brain. However, our recent psychophysical studies show that the human visual system utilizes simple features, or statistics, in the image to estimate the quality of natural surfaces. In this lecture, we introduce our psychophysical findings that reveal critical image features for the perceived glossiness and translucency, and a novel technique to alter the apparent material with simple image manipulation. |
