Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Seam carving is an image processing operator for content-aware image resizing, which enables users to shrink or enlarge pictures by a wide range, while still retaining all details of the image. However, in original seam carving, seams are sometimes concentrated too much in a paticular area, and cause obvious distortion especially on straight-lines in the image. Our proportional line is an optional object for improvement of seam carving. Proportional-Line is placed along straight-lines in the image, and monitors new seams intersecting it during the seam finding process. Proportional-Line adjusts the additional energy during the selection of the seams. In this process the seams that increase distortion on the line are penalized and the seams that decrease the distortion are encouraged.
