An Evaluation on Eavesdropper's Capability for Intensity Modulated Y-00 Cryptosystem

Abstract(in English) Yuen 2000 Protocol (Y-00) is a multi-signal level quantum transmission system that utilizes quantum noises to establish "advantage creation" between an authorized receiver (Bob) and an attacker (Eve). The design theory of Y-00, however, has not been established yet. Upon developing the design theory of Y-00 security, it is necessary to perform detailed analysis regarding quantum noise effects against Eve. In this paper, quantum fluctuation width is obtained by analyzing the channel matrix of amplitude modulated quantum communication system with multiple quantum signal states. Further, it is provided that the data to estimate the number of candidate keys based on the key length, the number of quantum signal states and quantum fluctuation width. Average error rate and average mutual information for Eve are obtained under the same conditions as those in the channel matrix calculation. From this analysis, design criteria for some randomization technologies is physically guaranteed and it is expected to contribute the security design of Yuen 2000 protocol.
