Single-wavelength-emission on active multi-mode-interferometer laser diodes (active-MMI LDs)

Abstract(in English) High power and low cost LDs (laser diodes) are attractive for future transmission system. So far, active-MMI LDs (active multi-mode-interferometer LDs) have been researched to obtain higher output power for amplifier pump applications, FTTH and others. However, there has been less report regarding single wavelength emission with active-MMI LDs as to our knowledge. Here we report the first single-wavelength emission on active 1x1 -MMI LDs with utilizing DFB (distributed feedback) structure. They showed single oscillation wavelength (λ=1.55μm, SMSR>38.5dB), without anti-refection coatings for the both facets.
