Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The maximum permissible noise level for a motorcycle manufactured on or after October, 2001 is 72dB at a distance of 7.5m from the path of the centre line at a steady speed in Japan. A measurement method is presented that allows a separation of sound sources based on pass-by measurements of a motorcycle (YAMAHA yzf-r6). A three-dimensional sound intensity measurement system for sound source identification was developed. The true source positions and their sound intensity were determined that in a system of propagation equations the source positions were optimized until a best fit to the measured signals was achieved. From the results, the maximum sound intensity level is 110dB from the muffler.
