Abstract(in English) | In order to supply high speed and reliable communication services stably, it is indispensable to manage signal quality transmitted in the paths. PMD is very important as one of the physical factors which affect severely to the signal quality because it is hard to control and forecast its behavior in optical networks. In-service PMD monitoring method considering the effect of high order PMD will be needed for treating 100Gb/s class optical signal. Fast fault localization is also important for maintenance of communication system. The correlation between a signal quality degradation caused by PMD and a length of SOP vector trajectory on Poincare sphere were investigated. And we studied about the effect of OSNR and chromatic dispersion on the correlation. The results indicate the method is promising as PMD induced optical signal quality monitor. Moreover, we studied about assignments in order to develop the monitoring equipment in practical use. |
