Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A visible-light wireless LAN (Local Area Network) accesspoint with illumination function is developed to construct a bidirectional multiaccess network for indoor optical wireless communications. A semiconductor LED (Light-Emitting Diode) with low power consumption is used as a medium for data transmission by controlling its quantity of light. We have also considered and chosen the LED source with high frequency-response characteristic, so the blinking signals that are occurred by changes of quantity of light will not interfere with the continuity of light as an illuminator. In order to ensure the affinity with power line communications, a method of optical CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) based on the protocol in Ethernet 100BASE-TX has proposed and is used to interconnect with other wireless devices in an information communication environment.
