| 抄録(英) | The Bibai Bog in Hokkaido is the only high moor peatland left in the Ishikari peatlands (60,000ha). During the last century almost all of the bogs except the Bibai Bog have been reclaimed for farmland, housing and real estate, etc. The total area of the Bibai Bog is now about 50ha. The remaining bog area is suffering from drying and ground subsidence because of continuous drainage. In order to propose appropriate measures to manage the Bibai Bog preservation efforts, a deep understanding of the temporal and the spatial behaviors of the area's water-table is necessary. To obtain water-table depths in a non-destructive manner, we used ground-penetrating radar (GPR). In many applications, GPR data are collected with the common-offset profiling (CO), in which the separation distance between the transmitter and the receiver is constant. However, it gives only the travel times of the reflected EM waves from unknown reflectors. To calculate the velocity of the EM wave, the common-midpoint (CMP) method, a multi-offset acquisition method, is also used. In this study, we collected CO profiling data with different antenna separations along common survey lines in the Bibai Bog. This approach allows us to directly estimate the EM wave velocity at all measurement locations without performing a common multi-offset acquisition method, such as the CMP method. In this survey, seven CO profiling data with four to seven different antenna separations, varying from 60cm to 120cm, were collected along survey lines in and around the bog. In addition to line surveys, 3-dimensional survey was also conducted to investigate 3-dimensional subsurface layering at the bog. |
