Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We study that the osmotic pressure valve system which supplies insulin automatically to diabetes patients, when the blood sugar level rises. The diaphragm of valve system opens and closes by osmotic pressure due to the change of the blood sugar level by a permeable film, the insulin is supplied automatically from reserver tank. This system does not need energy supply and a control system in this system. As for this structure, this valve system consisted of three parts. The housing part made from epoxy resin, which harden by UV laser, permeable film made by the cellulose acetate and diaphragm part was made by latex. When blood sugar level of outside of osmotic pressure valve rises, a solvent inside the housing begins to flow through a permeable film. This flow make transform diaphragm and open the valve. By animal experiment, we confirmed that insulin is injected in to the body by this osmotic pressure valve. We made this osmotic valve by epoxy resin. However, from the biocompatible standpoint, we tried to examine the osmotic valve can be made by the biocompatible material. Because it was vast natural resources, we chose this material as chitosan. This molecular structure resembles cellulose, and it is the materials that it is already applied to the medical field. Therefore it is necessary for making the osmotic valve system to insolubilize of chitosan solution. Because we studied quantitatively, we report the insolubilization method of the chitosan. |
