Fast Adaptive Algorithm Using Lattice Filter

Abstract(in English) The convergence speed of the adaptive filter is deteriorated by eigenvalue spread in the correlation matrix of the input signal. As one of the techniques to solve this problem, there is the 2-stage adaptive filter which involves a lattice filter to orthogonalize the input signal. However, the output error of this type of adaptive filter is saturated without decreasing enough because of the variation of the reflection coefficients. A synchronized learning algorithm that corrects the coefficients of the adaptive filter by synchronizing with the variation of the reflection coefficients was proposed recently. In this paper, we present a new adaptive algorithm solving the saturation problem from a different viewpoint from the synchronized learning algorithm. However, it is shown that the proposed algorithm and the synchronized learning algorithm become equivalent under certain conditions. In many cases, the proposed technique is more advantageous with respect to computational complexity. Also, the computer simulation experiments conducted in a scenario of system identification show that the proposed technique provides excellent convergence characteristics.
