Abstract(in English) Satellite and terrestrial integrated mobile communication systems (STICS for short), where a terrestrial network and a satellite network supplement each other to enable ubiquitous communications economically, have been recently drawing a great deal of attentions. As a communications satellite with a very large aperture multi-beam antenna is used in the STICS, a small hand-held mobile terminal can be used in both satellite networks and terrestrial networks to ensure the telecommunication services even in the case of disasters, anytime and anywhere. One of the most unique technical challenges of the STICS is frequency sharing between satellite and terrestrial networks, aiming at efficient frequency utilization and easy implementation of dual mode mobile terminal accessible to both satellite and terrestrial networks. This report describes an extended system model for frequency sharing analysis and shows the evaluation results based on the proposed extended model. It also discusses the comparison between the normal frequency operation and the reverse frequency operation, where the uplink frequency for satellite is used for the down link for terrestrial. The results show that the frequency sharing in STICS will be feasible with careful network design and traffic control of the uplink in terrestrial networks.
