Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In response to a demand from a visually impaired person, we undertook the development of a Web application which speaks out the components of Kanji characters and displays them in large sizes. Speech output explains not only the names of Kanji components but also their location in the character so that blind persons can construct the image of Kanji characters in their mind. Large fonts are prepared for persons with low vision. Future tasks are gathering information on improvement of the application through its use by blind persons and constructing a database on Kanji components and their locations in the character.
