Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Closed-captioned broadcast, which carries textual information for utterances in TV programs, is a useful medium of information accessibility for hearing impaired and elderly. In recent years, the ratio of closed-captioned pre-edited TV programs such as dramas has become higher, and real-time closed-captioning of live programs such as news and sports has also been expanded year after year by speech recognition in practical use or a special high-speed input keyboard. Aiming at more efficient closed-captioning, research for the improvement of the speech recognition technology and system development are underway. This paper introduces some types of the real-time closed-captioning systems with the speech recognition in practical use so far and a new system under study, and discusses the remaining technical issues to be considered. |
