Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Router-assisted congestion control has been proposed for efficient congestion control which enables high utilization even in high bandwidth-delay product networks. XCP (eXplicit Control Protocol) is one of well-known proposed protocol in this new category of congestion control. In router-assisted congestion control, link utilization information of output link is sent by routers as feedback information and used for adjusting window size, i.e. transmission rate, of a sender. Transmission rate of wireless communication channel is now growing and bandwidth-delay product in wireless communication is also becoming significantly high. When this router-assisted congestion control is used in wireless communications, wireless loss may degrade throughput performance severely because router-assisted congestion control decreases its window size when packet loss is observed at the sender. In our paper, we at first evaluate performance impact of wireless link loss on router-assisted congestion control and show that time-out due to multiple packet losses during a window is main reason for performance degradation. And we evaluate performance improvement of several promising methods of end-to-end approach.
