Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A sinusoidally phase-modulated CW light coupled into a chromatic dispersion medium is converted into an intensity-modulated light. We show that this phase to intensity modulation conversion disappears and the output light becomes CW again for specific phase modulation frequencies. Moreover, we describe a novel group velocity dispersion measurement method utilizing this phenomenon. The group velocity dispersion B_2 of a device under test (DUT) is derived by using a very simple equation, |B_2|=1/(2πf_^2), where f_ is the smallest modulation frequency at which sinusoidally phase-modulated light becomes CW light again after passing through the DUT.
