Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For holey fibers, two dimensional (2D) numerical approaches are generally used. They need a large-scale calculation and long computation time. In this report, the -index method (EIM) with a one dimensional finite-element method (FEM) is proposed to reduce the computation load. Moreover, to obtain more accurate results, a composite EIM is used. Our results are in good agreement with those obtained by a 2D finite-difference frequency domain method. The EIM approach with FEM will enable to simulate fibers having an arbitrary cross section by low performance computers.
