Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We developed the optical fiber cord with a diameter of 3mm for indoor wiring which can be easily handled by general user. We improved the handling performance by employing our bending loss insensitive fiber "TOUGHBEND^[○!R]" and thinner cord compared to the conventional 4mm cord. In addition, its materials and structure have been optimized to maintain the performance of the conventional cord, such as mechanical characteristics and flame retardance. In this article, we report our evaluation results of a prototype 3mm cord.
