Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a method of road marker recognition on real time from the rear view images of a moving vehicle. In conventional methods, the candidate of road marker is detected from an image at first. Then, the kind of the road marker is recognized by using the feature value extracted from the candidate area. However, when the road mark is occluded by another vehicles, the candidate area cannot be extracted correctly and the recognition rate is reduced. Moreover, the conventional method takes processing time, because the method scans the whole image, in order to detect the candidate area. To overcome these issues, the proposed method recognizes the kind of road markers with HMM. The input of HMM is time sequential feature values extracted from the ROI region set up behind the vehicle. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the method to the actual rear view images.
