Abstract(in English) Software defined radio is a radio technology that appeared in commercial field in the middle of 1990 years and the concept possesses the possibility to bring a new paradigm to the world of the wireless communication. In this paper, looking back in the time of 1996 to 2002 years, the attraction and challenge for the software defined radio are described. As for the challenge, it focuses specially on the issues that affect observance of the radio law. Besides, this paper refers not only about the reason why the direct conversion method is suitable for the software defined radio but also about the relations between the cognitive radio and the software defined radio.
