Problem of Early Days & Future Expectation of SDR and Related Field

Abstract(in English) We should recall researching and developing themes and applications in a field of software defined or reconfigurable radio (SDR) and cognitive radio (CR) which were aimed in early stage of this professional study group on software radio. Some of them have not been approached and solved yet. In particular, description language, operation system, and environmental monitoring algorithm for SDR and CR in computer science side have not much approached yet while reconfigurable circuits, software antenna, hardware prototype for SDR and CR in electronics side have been well researched and developed since the study group was founded about 10 years ago. In this keynote, I am going to introduce my own future scope of wireless communications that must be more dependable and sustainable wireless network in a sense of high quality of network with high reliability, security and fault tolerance. SDR and CR must be core technologies in order to establish such a dependable wireless network, of which major applications are medicine, ITS and so on. I hope that this keynote may stimulate much active discussion on SDR, CR and its related issues.
