Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An effective way to provide information (limited word count, but maximize usability) is to produce highly graphic information-using pictures in accompaniment with words to help communicate our product information or end-user instruction. Although the professional communication industry is only beginning to consider the importance of localizing graphic information, it is a fundamentally necessary step in producing effective information, and an important consideration for developers of information products. The author has studied which symbol for robot is best to provide effective information. The purpose of this paper is to report on the evaluation of effectiveness of symbols for television, telephone and robot. The evaluation is based on questionnaire data from about 290 Japanese people.
