Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In microwave and millimeter-wave power amplifiers, cascode circuits are introduced to realize high-power output performance for low voltage-resistant transistors due to reduced gate length. However, A dc operating point of a conventional cascode circuit is not necessarily stable, and powerr efficiency and distortion performance are not discussed sufficiently in the circuit design. This paper proposes a new cascode circuit with independently biased transistors, which makes possible stable dc operation and independent setting of transistor operation modes. In consequence, the proposed circuit can realize high-efficiency and low-distortion power amplifier, which is demonstrated with Si MOSFETs using a microwave circuit simulation.
