Verification of Evaluation Techniques for Residual Directivity in Vector Network Analyzer : Ripple Technique and Evaluation in Vector Value

Abstract(in English) The residual directivities in vector network analyzer (VNA) calculated by the ripple technique were verified referring to the result of the evaluation in vector value (vector-evaluation). As a result of calculating the residual directivities by the vector-evaluation using two types of air line, i.e. beadless and beaded air lines, the both results agree well within the range of the air line S-parameters uncertainties; 0.002-0.004. The residual directivities calculated by the ripple technique using the beaded air line were larger than those obtained by the vector-evaluation. Because the characteristics of the air lines and the residual directivities cannot be separated out in the results of the ripple technique, the beaded air lines having large S_<11> characteristics cannot be used in ripple technique for residual directivity evaluations.
