Proposal of the multimedia learning environment for prompting collaborative learning

Abstract(in English) This article proposes the open-ended multimedia learning environment which prompts the collaborative learning activity. Conventional computer-assisted learning environment forces to use computer only by one child. This environment often tends to disturb the collaborative activity of children. This article proposes the new open-ended learning environment which prompts the collaborative activity of children. LCD projector is used to share the visual information between children, and laser sensor is adopted to detect the location of hands, which is used for the replacement of usual pointing devices such as mouse. The experimental result of proposed system proved the effectivity for prompting the collaborative activity of children comparing to conventional learning environment.
