| Abstract(in English) | Osteoporosis is a bone disease that leads to an increased risk of fracture. Osteoporosis itself has no subjective symptoms. Automatic diagnosis system using dental panoramic radiographs of mandible has attracted a lot of attention. In this paper, we propose an automatic diagnosis method, in which the parallel and vertical trabecular structures to the tooth roots in mandible are measured and evaluated. It shows that the parallel trabecular structures of osteoporosis patients have decreased more than vertical ones. This results can be used to classify the osteoporosis patients and healthy persons, and to diagnose osteoporosis automatically. |
