Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is difficult to search the name of a flower by the image of a botanical database system. This paper presents a novel botanical database system queried by images using the similarity search. The employed image feature in the color distribution of corollae, since the shape of corollae, which has been used on a feature in conventional researches, is not stable and dependent on photographic directions. The color distribution is depicted as a hue histogram of the corollae obtained by an automatic extraction. The similarity between a key flower and a flower in the database is defined by the cross-correlation. The experimental results show that the system achieves the precision 72%.
