Precise Packet Scheduling Mechanisms on 10 Gigabit Ethernet

Abstract(in English) We have proposed a precise packet scheduling method, which determines the transmission timing of packets by the number of bytes transferred without dependence on the resolution of a hardware timer. In this paper, we discuss several issues toward implementing the method on 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The first one is the combination with TCP offloading mechanisms. The second one is the comparison with a light-weight high resolution timer-based implementation. The experimental results show that the accuracy of scheduling is enough in usual situation while TCP offloading mechanisms produce burst transmission up to 64KB.
