Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) According to the rapid increase of traffic and power consumption of network routers, a need for reducing power consumption has arised. As a method of reducing power consumption we suggest dynamic performance control. The issue of our performance control method is preventing packet loss arising from lack of forwarding performance, and maximizing the power reduction effect. In this paper, we proposed a traffic prediction method which estimates the traffic by referring the classified daily traffic pattern, such as holidays and weekdays, according to the measured traffic amount. We evaluated our method by a simulation using real measured traffic. As a result, we succeeded in reducing a maximum of 92.3% forwarding performance and 45.3% power consumption in average with a packet loss rate less than 0.01% over the simulation.
