Efficient image registration based on mutual information by using edge information

Abstract(in English) The aim of our research is to develop an efficient multi-modal image registration method. Similarity indexs between images such as sum of intensity differences are not used in the case of multi-modal image registration, since multi-modal images have different intencity distributions. Although mutual information can be used as an image similarity index for multi-modal registration, mutual information is time-consuming to calculate. We propose an efficient image registration method based on mutual information by using edge information to reduce the pixels to evaluate.
