Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have developed two on-site assembly techniques for single-mode optical connectors. One technique uses conventional plug housing parts, as used with factory assembled connectors, with a newly developed instant adhesive and a rapid polishing machine. The other technique enables us to connect optical fibers quickly and easily. The former can be used for the rapid repair of fiber termination modules, which demand frequent mating operations. The latter can be used for optical fiber network installation. We confirmed that both techniques realize connectors with the same characteristics as factory assembled SC-type connectors.
